This week The Guardian Radio Hour – the Guardian’s series of radio shows on east London internet station NTS - featured Guardian journalist Ben Beaumont-Thomas, in a show dedicated to the international independent labels that dig up the sounds of the past so you don’t have to.

Ben discussed the ins and outs of this new crop of crate-diggers – from the Honest Jon’s label and Numero Group to newer, boutique labels such as Awesome Tapes From Africa and Arc Light Editions – and discussing the problem of a never-ending hunger for the esoteric, and the rabbit holes that crate-digging can lead you down in the quest to find the most obscure new (or rather, old) music.

Listen again to the full show below or you can sign up to our Music Weekly podcast and it will wing it’s way to your pod-catcher in the next few days.

Our final Guardian Radio Hour show returns at 2pm on Friday 18 March on NTS. Get involved via@ntslive or @guardianmusic during the live broadcasts.

You can also listen to our launch show with Neneh Cherry, or watch a behind-the-scenes video here:

The Guardian Radio Hour is produced by Alannah Chance.
