The Grunts In A Jam by Philip Ardagh and Axel Scheffler - review

grunts in a jam

The Grunts In A Jam is the fourth book in the Grunts series, but you can enjoy it even if you haven't read the others. The story is about a family called the Grunts who seem to get themselves into some sticky situations. This book revolves around a competition called Preserves, Jams and Jellies. They find themselves in trouble a lot, from getting chased by bees to ending up in court. It is a really funny story and will make you laugh out loud.

The illustrations are by Axel Scheffler and really help bring the story to life. There are lots of little drawings throughout the book like dirt and ink splodges which add atmosphere. I really enjoyed all the different adventures they get into as they are sorts of things that don't happen in every day life. This made it really exciting. The chapters are just the right length to keep the story going from one situation to the next.

I would recommend this book to fans of the first three books and anyone who likes books that can make them laugh.
