The gruelling first images from inside Wales' brutal Rugby World Cup training camp in Switzerland

Images have emerged of Wales hard at work in their first Rugby World Cup training camp in Fiesch, Switzerland.

Warren Gatland's boys have been hard at work at their Vale of Glamorgan base for a number of weeks now, but the trip to Switzerland has seen the preparation for the World Cup step up another level or two.

Just like four years ago, Wales are using Fiesch for altitude training.

Players are sleeping up the mountain and then training lower down, meaning they'll be recovering with less oxygen. That means when they play closer to sea level, their bodies will be more efficient at using oxygen.

To get to that point, however, requires plenty of hard work right now.

And, as the pictures show, Wales' training sessions look nothing short of gruelling.

The next three months have been promised to include some of the toughest training the players will ever do, with double sessions the norm.

Each block, trip and session has been meticulously plotted by head of physical performance Paul Stridgeon and his team to ensure the players are pushed to the limit but not over it.
