The gritters are out across Bristol ahead of 'very frosty and icy' night

Temperatures are expected to hover around 1C tonight (December 7) as Bristol's cold snap continues.

According to the Met Office, the city's feels like temperature will be around zero degrees overnight.

In preparation for the chilly evening, the council has deployed its team of gritters to cover 'all priority routes'.

And motorists have been urged to drive carefully.

A spokesperson tweeted: "Very frosty & icy conditions expected today. All priority routes will be gritted but please drive carefully."

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for fog from 4pm on Monday until 11am on Tuesday which covers Bristol.

In its warning, it said: "Fog and freezing fog will persist and become more widespread Monday evening, lasting into Tuesday morning. The visibility is likely to be less than 100 m in places leading to difficult driving conditions and some disruption to transport.

"The odd icy stretch is also possible."

Tonight is set to be the coldest night of the week, with temperatures climbing throughout the week.

By Friday, double-figures degrees are expected, when the mercury will peak at 10C.
