The Greggs Festive Bake is coming to Cardiff early and here's when you can get it

Christmas is officially coming to Cardiff as Greggs fans in the capital are going to get a taste of the Festive Bake before other parts of the UK.

Cardiff competed with 20 other UK cities to be crowned one of the five locations to get the chicken and cranberry pastry early this Christmas.

The Festive Bake will be available in Cardiff's Queen Street store from 4.30pm on Monday November 4 - three days before it gets rolled out across all of Greggs' 2,000 UK outlets.

As part of the celebrations, 500 free Festive Bakes will be up for grabs in Cardiff.

And while Swansea lost out, it's still good news for Festive Bake lovers in the city as when they officially go on sale on Thursday, November 7, 100 free festive slices will be handed out at the Oxford Street store there.

The Festive Bake is a favourite with Greggs fans who queue round the block to get their hands on the pastry made with chicken breast, sage and onion stuffing and sweetcure bacon in a creamy sage and cranberry sauce.

The other most voted for cities which will be getting Festive Bakes early are Newcastle, Birmingham, Manchester and London.

The event will also be marked by a Greggs "superfan" from each area carrying an 'Olympic-style' Festive Bake torch.
