The Fair went off with a bang on Saturday as the organisers proved it to be the greatest show in town.
The village is celebrating a very special 250th anniversary this year and the revelry was evident from the get-go at the weekend’s showcase jamboree.
After a week choc-full of fantastic community events, locals came out in their hundreds to support the efforts of the committee.
With the theme around ‘The Greatest Showman,’ the day was full of colour, noise, excitement and hoopla.
Celebrations got under way with the parade, starting off at the village primary school and ending up – having weaved its way through the maddening crowds – on the playing fields.
There the Fair Queen, Millie Parker, was crowned by Grace Brown, marking the end of the formalities and the start of the fun.
An extravaganza, the main event of Fair Week had plenty for everyone, with craft stalls, a fun fair, live music, competitions, and plenty of great food and drink on offer.
The village was awash with colour throughout the day, with the rainy weather holding off despite a poor forecast.
A Fair spokesman said: “We think that went pretty well.
“On behalf of the Fair committee and our commander and chief Iain Macdonald, please accept our gratitude for making Saturday such a success.
“There is a lot of blood, sweat and tears go in to organising such an event, but without the heartfelt support of our special little community, and generous sponsors, it would all be for nothing.”
