The Greatest Dancer's Cheryl in tears over children's heartbreaking audition

Cheryl was left in tears over a heartbreaking routine on the first episode of the new series of The Greatest Dancer.

Last year's series was won by 14-year-old Scottish contemporary dancer Ellie Ferguson, who beat off competition from Latin Formation group KLA, contemporary couple Harry and Eleiyah, and dynamic duo James And Oliver in the final.

For series 2, original dance captains Cheryl , Oti Mabuse and Matthew Morrison are joined by newcomer and Cheryl stunned her colleagues by breaking down while watching an audition from Lily, 10, and eight-year-old Joseph.

The young pair used their dance to tell the story of their friendship, with Andra Day's Rise Up the soundtrack. Oti was visibly choked up by their performance but, Cheryl was so moved that she had to turn away from the camera as she attempted to regain composure.

Giving her critique, she said "You're incredible, you should be very, very proud of yourselves."

Ahead of their audition, Joseph’s mum, Natasha said: ‘They have this little bit of magic when they dance.

‘The emotion that they have when they dance sends shivers down my spine to watch. It’s just the best feeling in the world.’
