The Great British Bake Off: What time does the new series start and what is this week's theme?

It has almost been one whole year - excluding the Christmas specials - since The Great British Bake Off was last on our TV screens but finally, it's back!

Get your cakes, bakes, or savoury nibbles at the ready as the first episode of the Channel 4 family favourite will air tonight, Tuesday August 27, at 8pm.

The tenth series will see 13 new amateur bakers - an extra one compared to previous years - battle it out in a series of baking challenges in order to become Bake Off champion, or should we say Star Baker.

The 2019 batch of competitors includes a fashion designer, vet, and a lorry driver as well as some of the shows youngest participants with two age just 20.

But sadly, no-one from Greater Manchester has made the cut.

Judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith are returning to determine who is the UK's best unknown baking talent as well as Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig being back to bring order - and a fair bit of chaos - to proceedings.

The first episode to kick things off is set to be a good one as cake week turns risqué.

Three cake-based challenges await the famous tents latest recruits - signature, technical and showstopper - and the hilarious episode is full of filthy jokes and silly puns.

Amateur baker Phil Thorne gives Sandi and Noel a run for their money in the funny stakes as they're the ones left giggling like school children when he appears to simulate a 'sex act' on his rocket-shaped cake.

In another hairy moment, Paul mishears what contestant Helena Garcia, believing the Spanish online project manager is attempting to make a 'furry garden' as apposed to the 'fairy garden' she is actually plotting.

Oh Bake Off, welcome back.

The Great British Bake Off airs on Channel 4 from 8pm on Tuesday's.
