The Great British Bake Off in shake-up as host becomes contestant in celebrity special

There's set to be a bit of a shake-up to a hit baking show as The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer line-up is revealed.

That's because a host is swapping positions and becoming a contestant themselves.

Matt Lucas is among the 19 celebrities showing off their baking skills for the Channel 4 show's charity special.

Sir Mo Farah, singer Ellie Goulding and Strictly Come Dancing judge Motsi Mabuse are also among the celebrities who have signed up for The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer

Also included in this year's crop of famous faces are comedian and creator of Taskmaster Alex Horne, TV presenter Emma Willis, singer-songwriter Example and choirmaster Gareth Malone.

Hoping to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Dame Prue Leith are radio DJ Annie Mac, actor and author Ben Miller, The Inbetweeners star Blake Harrison, and TV and radio presenter Clara Amfo.

Former Coronation Street actress Katherine Kelly, TV presenter Laura Whitmore, comedian Ed Gamble, writer and comedian Mawaan Rizwan, TV star Ruby Wax, TV presenter Sophie Morgan, Friday Night Dinner’s Tracy-Ann Oberman and musician Yung Filly complete the line-up.

In each episode celebrities will battle it out over three rounds – the Signature, the Technical and the Showstopper challenge – in a bid to be crowned Star Baker and impress the judges.

The upcoming series will see Matt switching from presenter to baker in an episode when he fills in for a missing baker.

He said: "I was forced to bake by my bosses at the last minute when one of the bakers became unavailable.

"I can’t tell you how happy I was that my humiliation was caught on camera."

Former Corrie star Katherine Kelly is also lined-up to take part (PA)

The programme, which also sees Noel Fielding return as host, is expected to air later this spring.

As already mentioned, the series is in aid of Stand Up To Cancer - the Cancer Research UK and Channel 4 fundraising campaign which brings the UK together to speed up progress in life-saving cancer research.

Last year's line-up included ctor and comedian John Bishop, Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall, TV star Anneka Rice and Scottish actor James McAvoy.
