The Great British Bake Off drew its biggest audience of the series so far, despite judge Mary Berry accidentally revealing the name of the third contestant to leave the hit BBC1 show.
The third outing of the baking phenomenon drew an average audience of 10.1 million and a 44% share of all TV viewing between 8pm and 9pm on Wednesday night.
It attracted a five-minute peak audience of 10.7 million at 20.50pm, as fans flocked to watch Dorret Conway leave, undeterred by Berry’s gaffe on Chris Evans’ Radio 2 breakfast radio show.
Only the final of the last series cracked the 10 million average viewer audience mark.
This was well up on last week’s average of 8.9 million viewers for the second episode.
The opening episode of the sixth series managed an average audience of 9.3 million.
