The great big Brexit quiz: How much do you know about the UK leaving the EU?

The UK is scheduled to leave the European Union at the end of next month.

But many questions remain unanswered about how this will happen, what it could look like and whether a No Deal Brexit could soon be on the horizon.

It's safe to say Boris Johnson's first couple of months as Prime Minister have not been easy.

He was elected as the new leader of the Conservative Party after Theresa May failed to convince MPs - many from her own party - to support her deal.

The main issue of contention at the time had been the Irish backstop.

And that problem has yet to be solved between the current Government and the EU - but to be honest this is one of the least pressing issues Mr Johnson is currently dealing with.

Firstly there is the fact Mr Johnson's speech outside Number 10 promising to take the country out of the EU on October 31 'no ifs, no buts' may no longer be legally possible.

Parliament has now passed a new law which aims to block the UK from leaving without a deal on October 31.

Under the act - introduced as a bill by Labour MP Hilary Benn - Boris Johnson might have to request a Brexit extension on October 19, pushing the deadline back to 31 January 2020. Something the Prime Minister has so far absolutely refused to do.

And under the new law the only way to leave the EU on October 31 is by MPs either voting to approve a deal or voting in favour of leaving the EU without a deal.

Neither of which at this point seem likely. Especially considering President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker has said no real progress can be made in reaching a Brexit deal until the UK submits formal written proposals. Something it has yet to do..

Basically it's all a bit of a mess and as the October 31 deadline looms ever closer - it seems like no-one really knows what's going to happen on this fateful Halloween night.

With talks ongoing and Brexit continuing to dominate the headlines more than 1,000 days after the EU referendum, how much have you taken in? Take The Week’s quiz to find out:
