The Grainger Market street food stalls open on May 17 and where you can eat in

Fingers crossed for Monday 17, when pubs, restaurants and cafes can welcome customers back to dine inside.

Newcastle's Grainger Market houses a range of food traders, who are open now for takeaways but some of which have seats and tables which customers can use to eat their meals inside.

From Monday May 17, the likes of Acropolis, Oliver's and Pet Lamb are aiming to reopen their seating inside the Grainger Market.

It has of course been a very difficult time for city centre traders and May 17 is a huge date as England moves out of lockdown. If you are planning to visit the Grainger Market to eat in, download the NHS Covid App if you can for test and trace purposes, although you will also be able to submit your details on paper.

You can choose to dine in at some of the stalls, although if you prefer to eat outdoors - or the business you visit doesn't have seating - there are benches on Grey Street just down from Monument, which are for public use.

Which street food stalls are open from May 17 - and who offers dine in?

Ahead of Monday May 17, Newcastle City Council issued an update on Thursday May 13 on which Grainger Market food stalls will be open for dine in from Monday, and which traders will still be takeaway-only. Customers are asked to use the hand sanitiser available at the market entrance and hand gel supplied by individual businesses.
