The government just tried to jump on the Star Wars bandwagon and it was incredibly awkward

Star Wars: A Force Awakens has been everywhere this week

And it would seem that one government department was also incredibly excited about the release - incorporating the iconic Star Wars intro into its very own, and achingly awkward, promotional video.

The Department for Communities and Local Government, led by Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government Greg Clark MP, tweeted a short video outlining the government’s controversial Help to Buy scheme.

The “Episode IV: A New Home” video was set “neither a long time ago, nor in a galaxy far far away…” It ended with the claim “It aims to build 1 million new homes by 2021. And restore freedom to the galaxy.”

They also made sure to hashtag the appropriate movie tags too, just in case anyone had missed the connection.
