The Good Pub Guide's seven Glasgow pubs 'worth a visit' and what judges said about them

There's no argument - Glasgow has some of the best pubs of anywhere in the world.

Whether it's your classic old man boozer, a new hipster haunt or perhaps just your neighbourhood local - we all have our favourites.

According to the latest Good Pub Guide, there is only one 'recommended' Glasgow pub, despite there being a total of four in Edinburgh.

The Bon Accord is the only Glaswegian drinking hole to land that particular accolade - and if you've been its easy to understand why. To see what The Good Pub Guide said about The famous North Street bar, you can check their website here.

But there are seven more Glasgow pubs the Good Pub Guide consider to be 'worth a visit'.

Here's where the judges included and what they said about them - giving you inspiration for where to go for a drink this upcoming Jubilee holiday weekend.

Babbity Bowser, Merchant City

"A Glasgow institution, this 18th-c former tobacco merchant's house changed hands in 2020 for first time in 30 years when long-standing, one-eyed landlord retired, now owned by large pub group; refurb to simply decorated light-filled interior with tall windows, dark wood tables and chairs, banquettes and attractive artwork."

The Belle, West End

"Busy pub with wide mix of customers; leather-topped stools, modern and traditional chairs around all sorts of tables on polished wood floor, stags' heads and unusual mirrors on painted or exposed stone walls, open fire, American craft beers and European lagers, changing wine list; dogs very welcome, tables out on pavement and in tiny leafy back garden, open all day."

Drum & Monkey, City Centre

"Busy Nicholsons bank conversion; lots of carved mahogany, granite pillars and ornate ceiling, island bar serving half a dozen real ales, over 20 gins and decent range of wines, good value food, quieter back area; children (till 8pm) and dogs welcome, open (and food) all day."

Pot Still, City Centre

"Comfortable and welcoming little pub with over 700 malt whiskies including good value whisky of the month; traditional bare-boards interior with raised back part, button-back leather bench seats, dark panelling, etched and stained glass, columns up to ornately corniced ceiling.
