‘The Good Place’ has caught up to reality with new Blake Bortles, Nick Foles jokes

WARNING: SPOILER ALERT! IF YOU AREN’T CAUGHT UP ON THE GOOD PLACE, PLEASE STOP READING.

Ready?

Good.

NBC’s The Good Place is in the midst of its final season, its fourth overall. And that means we have to start saying goodbye to everyone and all their delightful running jokes.

That includes Jason Mendoza, the Jacksonville native played by Manny Jacinto who loves the Jaguars so much. But he’s also spent four seasons talking about his love of quarterback Blake Bortles, which is tricky because in real life, Bortles went from bad to kind of decent to people thinking the show had cursed him until he was cut.

Once again, the show had a problem to work out: how to talk about the fact that Jason’s beloved Bortles was replaced by Nick Foles in the offseason.

And once again, the writers figured it out. Here’s a clip of Jason being informed by Janet earlier this month that Bortles had been cut:

Brutal. But last week, this happened:

That’s right: Jason LOVES NICK FOLES! FOOOOOOLLLLLEEEEES!

I don’t know if there’s a way to work in Gardner Minshew this late in the game. Even if that doesn’t happen, amazing work, Good Place.
