‘The Good Place’ creator isn’t giving up on Blake Bortles

WARNING: SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED SEASON 3 OF THE GOOD PLACE!

There’s good news for The Good Place fans who hope that the running jokes involving now-former Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles will continue despite the fact that he’s now a member of the Los Angeles Rams.

As a reminder to those of you have no idea what we’re talking about: The character of Jason Mendoza is a Jacksonville native and he’s the biggest fan of the Jaguars. That includes loving all things Bortles despite the fact that the QB is mediocre. It’s led to three seasons of BORTLES! jokes, including the show finding a way to adjust when the Jags were good for all of one season.

So what is the show going to do now that Bortles is gone? Creator Michael Schur gave a good answer to Rolling Stone, which asked him “Will the end of the Blake Bortles era in Jacksonville affect the show at all? Or not, because Jason died again before Nick Foles came to town?”

Here’s what Schur said:

You really think, after 300 Blake Bortles references, we’d let the Bortles Era end without addressing it?
