'The Golden Years' is about my 60s, 70s and 80s: Ruskin Bond on his new book

Ahead of his birthday on May 19, author Ruskin Bond recently shared details about his new book. Titled 'The Golden Years', the author has shared that it is about the last 20-30 years of his life.

"'The Golden Years'-- that's the name of my latest book. This time it isn't a children's book strictly speaking, nor is it novel or a collection of short stories with which my readers are familiar. I suppose you can call it a self-help book," Bond said in a video which was posted by his publisher HarperCollins India recently.

Revealing details about the book, Bond further said, "It's called 'The Golden Years' because it is really about the last 20, 30 years of my life; my 60s, 70s and 80s. It is addressed to other people who are growing up and growing old, and sometimes worried about the future; whether old age will be a pleasant experience. I guess, it isn't always but it can be and should be. In my case, I think, I would say the 20 years have been the best professionally and personally in many ways. In this book, in 60 short chapters I have told my friends, my readers, what it's like to be growing old and the pleasant side of it."

Publisher HarperCollins India says Bond's latest book is "written in his trademark warm, witty, whimsical style and his marvellously simple prose".

Born on May 19, 1934, Ruskin Bond turns 89 years old this month.
