Sunday night’s episode of The Golden Bachelor had fans on the edge of their seats after the episode ended with a brutal rejection at the rose ceremony. The contestant who ditched the dating shebang has revealed why she decided to let it go and now, there are rampant rumours that the season might not have a happy ending.
The article contains The Golden Bachelor spoilers. Proceed with caution.
In its first season Down Under, The Golden Bachelor has already copped a rose ceremony walkout, with Terri, 61, declaring that she couldn’t accept Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden‘s rose.
The decision left her fellow contestants shocked, and it appears, in the promotions for Monday night’s episode, our Golden Bachie was cut up over the property investor’s decision.
Now, Terri has dished on the empowering yet heartbreaking reason why she chose to ditch the show.
Why did Terri reject The Golden Bachelor?
Reflecting on her time in the Golden Bachelor mansion, Terri revealed to New Idea that she struggled with the whole idea of rose ceremonies.
“You think you are going to be OK, but it’s a different feeling when you’re actually doing it,” she revealed.
“I felt I had a connection with Bear. He’s certainly my type of guy, but each week standing there waiting to see if you’re chosen just didn’t sit right with me.”
The Victoria-based property investor added that the hope of being “picked by a man” didn’t sit with her core beliefs (yessss diva), adding that she “needed to choose myself”.

But before she officially kissed the show goodbye, Terri admitted to the publication that she was surprised Bear wanted to give her a rose.
“My insecurities just crept in. I thought, ‘he’s not going to pick me.’ But he did. And I stood there for a moment because I thought, ‘What am I going to do?’ It wasn’t until I was walking up there that I decided ‘no, I just can’t do this,’” Terri continued before admitting that she does get stung by that bugger of a question, ‘what if’.
“I would’ve loved to have seen whether it was a true connection with Bear,” Terri said when asked if she regrets the decision to leave.
“I thought if it was real, maybe if I’d met him somewhere else, like in a family barbecue or through friends, it might’ve worked — but who knows?”
Has Terri spoken to Bear since leaving The Golden Bachelor?
In a more juicy tea spill, Terri revealed that she hasn’t spoken to Bear, even at the Sydney premiere of the TV show.
Honestly, it takes heaps of GUTS to put yourself out there when it comes to love.
Kudos to Terri for giving it a try and, of course, choosing herself at the end of the road.
You can watch The Golden Bachelor on Channel Nine and 9Now.
