Cole Walliser, the man behind all those famous glambot shots, has weighed in after Jennifer Lopez copped heat for her interaction with him at this year’s Golden Globes.
ICYMI, the singer has been at the centre of backlash after a video of her getting ready for her glambot moment at the ceremony went viral on social media.
In the clip, shared by Walliser himself, Lopez is seen offering minimal chitchat and eye contact with the photographer as she lands on a pose for the swooping camera.
Lopez’s seeming curtness prompted a wave of criticism in the comments, with many fans branding the interaction as “rude” or slamming her for “not acknowledging” Walliser.

The hullabaloo was clearly loud enough to reach Walliser’s desk, so he shared a response video earlier today with the caption, “Who was the worst glambot?”.
But for those hoping for some BTS tea, Walliser took a more diplomatic approach.
“Everybody on the internet just needs to calm down,” the photographer said. “There was only one person in that conversation outside of J-Lo, and that person was me.”
Walliser went on to defend Lopez by reminding fans that glambots are “completely elective” for stars walking the red carpet.
“Anybody that stops, I already like you because you’re taking the time to do my thing and this is generous of you,” Walliser said.

He also stressed the “crazy” environment of red carpets — saying that stars sometimes “don’t know what they’re walking up to” with the glambot — while also reiterating that “these celebrities are at work” and may want to keep things professional rather than overly friendly.
“They’re there to promote [their projects], so some people are chatty at work and some people are not so chatty at work. It’s not really my place to say [celebs] should be a certain way,” Walliser said.
Off the back of the viral Lopez clip, Walliser later answered a persistent fan question about his worst celeb interaction, saying he has “never felt like people were rude to me”.
“When people are less chatty, even with J-Lo, I don’t take it personally, it doesn’t feel rude,” Walliser said.
Still, Walliser could see how the interaction was misinterpreted, saying J-Lo was “down to business” and that her chosen pose, with her back turned to Walliser, was “unfortunate” in terms of how it was perceived by fans.
Cara Delevingne copped similar backlash for her own viral glambot at the 2024 Oscars, but Walliser said he actually thought the model was “super sweet”.
“Again, I didn’t think that was rude,” he said. Walliser’s response might put to bed much of the fanfare around glambots, but nothing will ever smooth over the masterpiece/nightmare that is Joey King’s 2019 thumbs-up.
