The Giovani Lo Celso Copa America moment that will excite Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo

Tottenham ace Giovani Lo Celso will be involved in the Copa America final this weekend after playing a pivotal role in Argentina's semi-final win over Colombia on Tuesday night.

Drawing 1-1 after Luis Diaz's second-half goal had cancelled out Lautaro Martinez's early opener, the tie went to penalties with Albiceleste coming out on top with a 3-2 win.

Lionel Scaloni's men will now take on great rivals Brazil on Saturday evening as they compete for South America's top prize at the Maracana Stadium.

Lo Celso may have only played 56 minutes of the contest against Colombia but he will be in a very good position to start for his country in the showpiece finale.

Starting in Argentina's first two Group A games before an injury ruled him out of their third fixture, the 25-year-old had to make do with an appearance off the bench against Bolivia before returning to the XI come the knockout phase.

Lining up as part of a midfield three vs Colombia, the classy midfielder had a big say on the game with only seven minutes on the clock.

Picking up the ball around 35 yards out with very little on ahead of him, Lo Celso produced a moment of brilliance as he somehow picked out Lionel Messi with a pinpoint pass through a group of players.

A ball that took out six Colombia stars, Messi then took a couple of touches in the area before putting the ball on a plate for Martinez to finish.

The duo may get all the praise for combining well in the area but Lo Celso deserves so much credit for creating the opening in the first place with his sublime pass opening up the Colombia backline.

Argentina and Tottenham fans were raving about his piece of play on social media immediately after the goal, with Spurs supporters making it perfectly clear that they want to see that from him on a regular basis this season.

Nuno Espirito Santo and his Tottenham coaching staff will be keeping close tabs on the players involved in international football at present and the new boss will have been very impressed by what he saw from his midfielder.

Struggling to replace Christian Eriksen at the club since his move to Inter Milan in January 2020, the Lilywhites really could do with either bringing in a new player or seeing someone step up and take the mantle in terms of creativity from midfield.

Harry Kane did create a whopping 17 assists for Spurs last campaign but Tottenham don't want to pile too much pressure on his shoulders given his main job is to score goals.

A stop-start year for Lo Celso once again through injury, the Argentine will have a big role to play under Espirito Santo if he can stay clear of the issues that have unfortunately troubled him time and time again since his move to the club.

Impressing so far at the Copa America this summer, if Lo Celso can take his international form back to north London then Tottenham fans may be about to see the very best of him.
