The gift Piers Morgan gave Donald Trump on ITV's Good Morning Britain

Piers Morgan gave Donald Trump a gift to mark the end of his interview on Good Morning Britain.

In the US President's only sit-down interview with the UK media, he spoke about everything from gun control and transgender military personnel to the NHS and Boris Johnson.

The pre-recorded segment took place in the Churchill War Rooms in London and as the conversation came to a close Piers offered Trump a gift.

He showed the President a hand-made replica of Winston Churchill's trademark hat - complete with Donald Trump's initials.

Trump seemed surprised, joking with Piers: "I didn't think you have the sensibility."

He then proceeded to make two dents in the hat and tilting the brim down slightly, adding Churchill didn't wear it like that.

Placing it on his head, he said: "I think Churchill looked a little better."

When the interview ended and cut back to the GMB studio, Susanna Reid said: "I didn't think he would put it on.

"But he immediately Americanized it."

Viewers of the show had mixed responses to the ITV1 exclusive, some opting to switch channels, others accusing Piers of being too biased towards the President.

But many found the interview fascinating, praising the presenter and GMB for being able to get the interview.

You can see highlights of the interview on GMB's website and Twitter feed.
