This is the giant white missile that was delivered to an Ayrshire police station and shut down streets for hours.

The rusting historical ordnance showed up at the Galston cop shop after being discovered by concerned locals.

Explosive experts from Faslane were drafted in to assess the potentially dangerous device with two nearby streets cordoned off by cops.

Two streets in Galston were shut down for hours yesterday following the discovery of the suspect item.

Residents on Titchfield Street and Orchard Street could not get into their homes and businesses were also evacuated as a result of the high-stakes emergency situation.

Police confirmed last night that item was "assessed and removed from the area."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said yesterday afternoon: “Titchfield Street and Orchard Street in Galston are currently closed following the discovery of what is a possible historical ordnance item.

"Police were alerted at around 1.10pm on Friday, November 5, 2021 and a cordon has been established while the item is assessed.”
