Coronation Street fans were in for a shock when much-loved character Sinead Osbourne ‘reappeared’ in the home she shared with Daniel Osbourne three months after her tragic death.
The ‘ghost’ of Underworld worker Sinead, played by Katie McGlynn, appeared to Daniel as he slept in his flat after being brutally attacked by villain Gary Windass.
He thought he saw his late wife, who passed away from cervical cancer in October, as he rested in the lounge and woke to overhear her singing.
Sinead apologetically asked if she had woken her husband, but as Daniel was jolted from his slumber he realised it was in fact Bethany Platt he was seeing wearing Sinead’s blue dressing gown.
"Sinead ????" questioned one stunned Corrie fan on Twitter.
"OH HELLO SINEAD," said another.
"OMG Sinead," gasped another.
Bethany, played by Lucy Fallon, went back to the flat to look after her crush after he was beaten up by Gary.
Gary was fuming when he found out that his pregnant girlfriend Maria Connor had caught measles from Daniel’s baby son Bertie after the dad decided not to let him have all of his baby injections. As a result Maria lost their baby.
After realising he was seeing Bethany and not his late wife Daniel, played by Rob Mallard, asked her to stay with him at the flat.
The pair kissed back in October during Sinead’s final hours.
When the young mum and newlywed found out she forgave her husband, who through grief and shame over the kiss went missing for the night.
Lucy has now filmed her final scenes on the soap after five years of playing Bethany.
This week Rochdale actress Katie won a National Television Award for Best Serial Drama Performance for her role as Sinead.
The character found out her cancer had returned when she discovered a lump in her neck on her wedding day and was given just weeks to live.
