The Georgian semi-detached home near Tenby that was once a bakery and the village pub

If you're dreaming of moving to Tenby and desperate for a distinctive three-bed period property with potential to expand, you currently may not have much of a choice of housing stock for sale in this popular coastal town.

And if you're on a budget to find your historic home with added square footage, it might be blown in the historic areas inside the town walls.

If your budget is in the region of £250,000 for a three-bed semi, property portal Zoopla states that the average for similar in Tenby is around £275,000.

Currently there are a couple of younger three-bed semi-detached properties for sale on the outskirts of Tenby that fit this budget and could be ideal.

But the only period three-bed semi currently for sale in the centre of Tenby is priced at £460,000, so if you're longing for history and character features then maybe the countryside outside the town is your best house-hunting plan.

Maybe snooping around the villages of south Pembrokeshire that surround Tenby is the answer to getting more space within a character home, for less money.

And if you want a generous garden outside, a good amount of space inside, no renovations needed in the main house yet potential to create extra accommodation, then maybe this smart Georgian in Milton is a marvellous find.

Milton is a village about six miles away from Tenby and close to one of the main roads through the county that gives access to a B road straight into the town.

So getting there by car should not be too tricky, passing Manor Wildlife Park and Dinosaur Park on the way to the coast too.

Other stunning spots on the coast easily reached include Freshwater East, Manorbier and Lydstep.

And if you want to enjoy a stroll somewhere closer, then the stunning Carew Castle and Tidal Mile are literally just up the road.

Pembroke Castle, and the shops, cafes and restaurants that surround it in Pembroke town, is less than five miles away.

Milton village has a shop, children's park and brewery, and there's a primary school in the neighbouring village of Sageston and secondary schools in Tenby and Pembroke Dock can be reached via a daily bus service, according to the estate agent.

This particular period semi dates back to the 1800s.

It has been renovated to a standard described as "high" by the agent, yet retains its historic character and there's some bonus additions to be found out in the garden that offer great potential; not many standard semis can claim to offer you that full package.

It is said this outbuilding was the storage cellar for the goods used when the property was a bakery, according to the agent (West Wales Properties, Tenby / rightmove)

This semi can also offer you a unique history too, as according to the estate agent it has been during its lifetime the village pub and a bakery.

A choice of names for this special home on offer then, but the current owners have gone with The Bakery, as in the garden can be found a stone outbuilding that is said to have been the bakery cellar and is currently used for storing outdoor equipment.

But that's not the only bonus building lurking in the garden, as built into a characterful stone wall is a cute, two-storey building that oozes potential too.

But actually it's got two stories (West Wales Properties, Tenby / rightmove)

Both structures could make ideal home offices or an annexe for extra accommodation, subject to planning consent and building controls of course, but a consideration that makes this semi stand above the rest, even if the buildings only remain as handy storage.

The garage at the side of the house is a bit of a beast, and continues the stone structure theme - maybe a future holiday let for a renovator with vision (and planning).

Or maybe a new owner might consider making this large garage building the ultimate games room and party area as there's certainly the space inside for a gathering of family and friends.

There are plenty of places to park the cars, with a wide driveway to the side and a charming cobbled forecourt at the front, so the garage could surely become something more special.

The house itself has been renovated and successfully combines period character with modern additions for anyone looking to just park in the drive (not garage) and get on with enjoying living in this location.

The smart grey and white facade and black front door welcomes you home, and proudly displays the classic symmetry and large windows of a home dating back to Georgian times, as well as the Old Bakery name plaque.

The arched transom window above the front door and hanging lantern add to the pretty period picture this house instantly creates.

Inside, the central hallway greets you with wide and impressive wood panelled doors to two reception rooms, the main lounge on the left and a formal dining room, currently being used as an extra bedroom, on the right.

The lounge is a truly inviting room, bathed in light from the Georgian proportioned window, plus a bonus surprise window on the side wall.

Here on this wall you will also see the delightful feature fireplace that can boast attractive detailing that crowns the calm and classic decor of this relaxing space; once you sink into one of those sofas, it might be hard to ever want to leave it.

The formal dining room can also boast a lovely fireplace.

This room has already proved it can be a versatile space - bedroom, home office, playroom, media and games room or bedroom.

The kitchen at the rear of the property has been well-designed to include a table and chairs plus a bonus utility room accessed at the end of the space.

The choice of classic style, neutral tones and natural materials such as wood and stone all combine to make this a visually warm and welcoming area, modern but more relevant to a period property than a high gloss, highly contemporary choice.
