The Geography Of You And Me by Jennifer E. Smith – review

When New York’s electricity cuts out, consequences like a broken elevator appear. Lucy and Owen, who are strangers to each other, bond over their family troubles as they learn that in a blackout you have to stay together. However when the power comes back on Lucy and Owen unfortunately have to part ways, but they find themselves thinking of one another as both of them keep moving around the world they keep in touch. Through these emails and postcards, bonds are formed between the two.

The Geography Of You And Me by Jennifer E. Smith

Jennifer E. Smith has created a feel good novel which leaves a smile beaming on your face. Even though the story is only based around two people, I found it very dramatic in parts, however when a daunting situation came up (I won’t spoil it for you!) the drama would stop there to let the reader guess what happened which was slightly annoying. The story had lots of beautiful and scenic moments, however they weren’t narrated in detail and they were soon forgotten about after. The style used alternating points Of view, which could be slightly dull at points, however because Owen and Lucy were apart for most of the book it worked really well!
