The 'genius' way one mum salvaged World Book Day after forgetting costume

A mum has been hailed a 'bl**dy genius' for the way she 'nailed' World Book Day after forgetting it was happening.

Lucy Sephton says she 'totally forgot' about the event until an email arrived from school, reminding families there would be a Zoom meeting at 9.30am to show off their Mr Men costumes.

With her nine-year-old son Elliott Stead in tears because he had no costume to share - and would rather have been a Fortnite character anyway - Lucy had a lightbulb moment of what he could be, Mr Invisible.

She quickly made him a sign to put on his chair for the other children to see when they logged on and it meant he could 'sit there in his three-day old pants with unbrushed hair and teeth' - a dream day for any schoolboy.

Sharing her bright idea on the Family Lockdown Tips and Ideas Facebook page, Lucy said it was the only one she's had in the last year, adding: "Woo hoo I’m the best mum now."

And she was inundated with comments from parents praising her 'brilliant idea' and hailing her 'a genius'.

"This is thing of legend! Well done you," said one mum, while another added: "ABSOLUTE GENIUS! I salute you!"

Lucy told our Manchester Family : "I’m not proud, I’m just glad I could stop him crying as he felt it was 'babyish' being a Mr Men character and he wanted to be a Fortnite character.

"I’m amazed at the response, we can’t stop laughing about it."
