The Gatsby Club spring ball cancelled as organisers announce November event is last ever

Organisers of Scotland's biggest 1920s-themed club and cabaret night have announced the shock cancellation of their next event at Glasgow Uni.

And the bad news doesn't stop there, as it's also been revealed that The Gatsby Club will be wound up for good in a few months, after nine years of rip-roaring vintage entertainment and fun.

The group behind the hugely popular night took to Facebook earlier this evening to spread the word the upcoming spring ball at Glasgow University Union will not go ahead as planned.

Game of Thrones fans turn out in force as Iron Throne comes to Glasgow as part of UK tour

They said this November's winter ball will be the last Gatsby Club ever, adding: "We intend to go out with a bang so we do hope you’ll join us in celebrating what has been nine whole years of rip-roaring entertainment and fun!

"Tickets for this event will go on sale sooner than scheduled but we’ll give you all plenty of notice in due course."

Anyone who had purchased tickets to the spring ball is being directed to a website where they can claim a full refund .

A sister Gatsby extravaganza, The Gatsby Speakeasy at the Southside Fringe will still take place on May 17 at The Rum Shack .
