The Gate to open at Barrowlands as 'Modern Scottish pub' replaces old Emerald Isle bar

Glasgow's east end is set for a new boozer with the announcement a 'Modern Scottish pub' is to open opposite Barrowlands.

Next month, The Gate will throw open its doors at 251 Gallowgate, the site of the former Emerald Isle and The Haven.

Giving a clue as to what Glaswegians can expect from the new venue, a social media post revealed: "Located directly across from Glasgow’s iconic Barrowland Ballroom, The Gate is an East End neighbourhood bar dedicated to showcasing the best of Scottish hospitality and produce."

Meanwhile, a teaser video has also been shared, which shows cocktails alongside a Tunnock's caramel wafer, then replaced by a pint of Tennent's and a screaming bar man - you can watch the video in full by clicking play on the video above.

Otherwise, details remain limited - a date is yet to be set for the opening, although we do know it will be in July, just a matter of days away.

As soon as we find out more, we'll let you know, Glasgow!
