Son Heung-min was sent off for the third time in his Tottenham career on Sunday.
One of those red cards was later rescinded, of course - the dismissal against Everton that left Andrew Gomes with a broken leg - but the latest one is unlikely to be appealed or overturned.
The South Korean star kicked out at Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger while he was on the floor after failing to win a free-kick from referee Anthony Taylor.
Taylor did not brandish a red card, but VAR told him to change his decision and Son was given his marching orders.
There was very little contact with Rudiger, but the intent was there and Son was dismissed for violent conduct.
And the punishment for violent conduct is a three-game ban, as the South Korean knows only too well from his red card against Bournemouth last season.
That will mean Spurs will be without Son for a busy part of the season.
The festive fixture list is always hectic and following the defeat to Chelsea on Sunday, Spurs face a run of four games in the space of 11 days.
So what games will Son miss as a result of that red card against Chelsea?
Tottenham take on Brighton & Hove Albion at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Boxing Day, that will be the first match Son misses.
Two days later it's a game against Norwich City at Carrow Road and then New Year's Day clash with Southampton on the south coast at St Mary's.
After that it's the FA Cup third round, and a clash with Championship side Middlesbrough. That will be Son's first game back in action.
Games Son will miss:
Brighton (H) - Boxing Day
Norwich (A) - December 28
Southampton (A) - New Year's Day
