The games Gaetano Berardi is set to miss as red card adds to Leeds United's defensive woes

Gaetano Berardi was sent off the for the eighth time in his Leeds United career when referee James Linington gave the Swiss his marching orders against Millwall.

Berardi, who had replaced the injured Liam Cooper in Marcelo Bielsa's starting XI, was sent off for a foul on Tom Bradshaw in the Leeds area on 14 minutes, with Jed Wallace subsequently slotting home the penalty.

While Leeds fans were left scratching the head over the decision, believing that there was little or no contact with Bradshaw, the straight red will bring about an automatic three-match ban, pending any appeals.

With Cooper out for the next six weeks, it leaves Leeds without their two of their most senior defenders for the next few Championship matches following the upcoming international break.

Here are the games that Berardi is set to miss:

Saturday, October 19  - Leeds United vs Birmingham City

Tuesday, October 22 - Preston North End vs Leeds United

Saturday, October 26 - Sheffield Wednesday vs Leeds United
