The games Andreas Christensen will miss as Chelsea and Frank Lampard suffer fresh injury blow

Chelsea and Frank Lampard have been handed a fresh injury blow.

Defender Andreas Christensen, who has made seven appearances across all competitions so far this season, has been ruled out of this afternoon's Premier League clash against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.

The centre-back was injured during Denmark's 1-0 win over Switzerland a week ago and the hamstring injury he sustained caused him to miss their 4-0 win over Luxembourg a few days later.

Furthermore, he's set to be out of action for at least a fortnight.

This was confirmed by Lampard during his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.

"Andreas has a hamstring injury that will probably see him out for the next two weeks," the Blues head coach told reporters at the club's Cobham training base.

A two-week absence means it's unlikely that the Denmark international will feature again this month.

As a result, the four games he will miss pan over three different competitions - Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup - Newcastle United (h), Ajax (a), Burnley (a) and Manchester United (h).

Chelsea then have three games in November before the next international break.

Away to Watford in the Premier League on the 2nd, a home game against Ajax three days later in the Champions League before facing Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on November 9th and it remains to seen if Christensen will be fit for any of those encounters.

Failing that, his return from injury could come when the Blues face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday November 23.

This would mean Christensen will have missed seven games in total which is the worst case scenario.

The best case is that he misses between four and five.
