The games Alexandre Lacazette will miss as Unai Emery and Arsenal are handed massive injury blow

Arsenal and Unai Emery have been handed a massive injury blow.

Striker Alexandre Lacazette, who has netted two goals in three appearances so far this season, has been ruled out of this weekend's Premier League clash against Watford at Vicarage Road.

Furthermore, he's set to be out of action until next month.

Arsenal confirmed the news with an injury update on their official website.

"After assessments to an ongoing ankle issue, we have advised that Alex will need to rest and strengthen his ankle to regain full fitness," the update read.

"Alex has been playing through this injury for several weeks. He is likely to be back in action in October."

Lacazette's injury denies head coach Unai Emery of the chance to field the Frenchman alongside Nicolas Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in attack against the Hornets.

But it's not just Sunday's game in which Lacazette will be absent for.

Whilst the Gunners have not given a date for the striker's return, it could be touch and go as to whether he play again before the next international break.

The games he certainly will miss pan over three different competitions - Premier League, Europa League and Carabao Cup: Watford (a), Frankfurt (a), Aston Villa (h), Nottingham Forest (h), Manchester United (a).

Arsenal have two games in October before the international break.

At home to Standard Liege in the Europa League on the third before welcoming Bournemouth to the Emirates Stadium three days later and it remains to seen if Lacazette will be fit for either.

Failing that, his return from injury could come when the Gunners face newly-promoted Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Monday October 21.

This means Lacazette will have missed seven games in total and Emery will hope his side can cope without last season's Player of the Year.
