The Gallows review – not so much a gore-fest as a snore-fest

the gallows film review
Hang on a minute… terrible found-footage horror The Gallows.

Here we go again with yet another formulaic found-footage snore-fest. This time, the irritating shaky-cams follow a group of annoying high school kids as they attempt to restage the titular play that, in 1993, saw its leading man “accidentally” hanged on stage. Breaking into the theatre on the eve of the performance, our antiheroes conveniently (and inexplicably) keep filming as the dangling body count grows, delighting us with dreary shots of their shoes, downshifting inevitably into cliched night vision. After a while, the cameras start to flash “low battery” and “power save” warnings, but only the cacophony of booming rumbles and loud BANGS stopped me from drifting into “sleep mode”.
