The Gallery of Regrettable Food

If anyone still doubts that food has improved over the last 40 years then they should visit this horribly funny site, featuring the very worst of past cuisine. All the recipes, submitted by the public, come from genuine cookery books, and most are accompanied by photographs. Thus a book called Barb B Trix - which, as the commentary points out, sounds less like a cookery book and more like a prostitute specialising in bondage - advises us to mix ground beef with peas and carnation-evaporated milk in order to get our burgers to bind properly.

Elsewhere there is whole book devoted to cooking with 7Up. Yes, that's right, the fizzy American lemonade that apparently improves the taste of everything and anything. My personal favourite comes from the strangely named Ten PM Cookery, which devotes itself to wowing your demandingly posh, but slightly bohemian friends (we know they are slightly bohemian because they pop round uninvited after 10pm). "Heat canned vegetable juice cocktail; serve in glasses; float butter pat on top of each with celery stalks for stirrers." I think you'll agree it has the wow factor, not to mention the bleuurgh factor. If you know of similar culinary sins then do send them to the site, or post them below.
