'The gaffer told us yesterday' - Mohamed Salah speaks out on new Liverpool plan and next move for team

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah says Tuesday night's performance against Rangers 'wasn't perfect' and they must 'carry on' and turn things around this season.

Jurgen Klopp 's side picked up a crucial 2-0 victory at Anfield to remain second in group A in the Champions League and go three points clear of Ajax in third. A free-kick from Trent Alexander-Arnold and a second-half penalty from Salah proved to be enough on the night.

It was an improvement on recent games as they drew 3-3 with Brighton at the weekend, but the Egyptian insists there is still work to be done.

“It’s a good night,” he told UEFA after the game. “Not perfect but it’s important to win the games at home, especially (as) we have a tough group and we lost the first game. We just need to carry on and try to win the next games.

“We just try to focus on each game, we take one game at a time because in the Premier League also we are not in our form. We just try to think of each game and be first in the group in the Champions League and also try to win in the Premier League."

Klopp's formation switch was arguably the biggest surprise of the night, turning to a 4-2-3-1 . Salah, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz all started in what was a very attacking line-up.

Salah continued: “The gaffer told us yesterday about the formation and we just tried to adapt. I think it was working well, we created many chances in the first half and second half, we tried to score.

“It’s an offensive formation. It was good for all of us up front, especially because we all want to score goals. It worked well today.”
