The Commercial Broadcasters Association (COBA) is the UK industry body for digital, cable and satellite broadcasters. Its members include major non-public service broadcasters, as well as niche channels. COBA works with regulators, policy makers and other stakeholders in the UK to champion the interests of its members and to promote the value they bring both creatively and economically to the UK. The multichannel sector is one of the fastest growing parts of the UK broadcasting industry, doubling direct employment over the last decade and increasing investment in UK television production by 50% over the last five years.

Pact is the trade association representing the commercial interests of UK independent television, film, digital, children’s and animation media companies. Pact supports its members with legal and business affairs advice and support, as well as a wide range of services and campaign work.

Pact helps to shape the best possible regulatory and legislative environment for the independent production sector to grow domestically and internationally – the association has a strong record of success in campaigning for producers’ rights. Pact was highly influential in shaping the current production business environment, giving independent UK producers their intellectual property rights as outlined in the 2003 Communications Act. In ten years, the sector has grown from a cottage industry to a world-beating £3bn business.

Pact is socially responsible and seeks to influence the wider industry to commit to diversity on and off the screen. Pact works closely with broadcasters and producers groups to create training opportunities and promote fair access for all.

RadioCentre is the industry body for commercial radio. It works with government, policy makers and regulators to further the interests of commercial radio. It also acts as a marketing body for radio and raises the profile of the medium with advertisers and their agencies through the Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB), and helps pre-clear adverts for broadcast by administering the Radio Advertising Clearance Centre(RACC).

RadioCentre membership is made up of commercial radio groups and stations of all sizes, representing companies running independent small-scale ventures, as well as large media companies operating household names serving major metropolitan areas. RadioCentre’s member companies run 247 licensed radio stations across the UK, through 42 different businesses, which represent 90% of commercial radio in terms of listening and revenue. RadioCentre provides a forum for industry-wide debate and discussion on issues facing the radio industry, and the wider media landscape.
