The future is female – but actually the past is too!

The future is female – that's the rallying cry. But as part of Women's History Month, we're looking to the past, with two female writers who have created some remarkable female characters in their delightful historical novels that are coming out in French published by Editions Belfond.

Sarah-Jane Stratford, who's the author of "Red Letter Days", and Imogen Hermes Gowar, whose novel is called "The Mermaid & Mrs Hancock", speak to Eve Jackson about a new wave of feminist fiction that brings the complex lives of historical women out of the shadows, women's ability to rise above their circumstances and why in Georgian London marriage and prostitution had many similarities.
