The Future is Blue and White: Kate Hudson's 'Blue Jean Baby' Kitchen Revels in a Delightfully Playful Color Scheme We're Coveting for 2026

This year, kitchen design is getting experimental. We spotted the first whisperings of what's to come in Kate Hudson's stunning kitchen remodel. It's bright, playful, and intriguing, transforming a well-known color scheme into something new.

The actress remodeled the kitchen in her Pacific Palisades childhood home with CAFÉ Appliances, aiming to create a space that is not only beautiful, but feels like a reflection of her.

Once owned by her parents Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, it's practically a piece of Hollywood legend and Kate's personal history. Thus, she wanted to keep the modern farmhouse bones intact as she updated it.

The result is a color scheme that feels both eternal and current. Kate's choice of effortlessly sophisticated light blue Cristello marble is fun and vibrant, but feels relaxed enough to cook in. The space is grounded by white CAFÉ appliances with brushed brass hardware. It's yet another example of an effortlessly timeless blue and white kitchen.

She nicknamed the project 'Blue Jean Baby,' after the first lyric in the Elton John song 'Tiny Dancer' which features heavily in one of her most iconic films, Almost Famous. This light, nostalgic reference echoes throughout the kitchen's bright color scheme, which feels like an homage to Kate's past with an eye towards the future.

Kate explains: 'This is my childhood home. It’s been such an emotional experience because it holds so many memories. It’s so important that this space is a reflection of my personality. And with CAFÉ, I think we really got there. So many options, so many choices.'

Furthermore, we predict that Kate Huson's novel color choice will top kitchen trends for 2026. Part of this is due to its versatility which allows for constant new iterations, as seen in Kate's home.

Marianne Shillingford, Creative Director and Color Expert at Dulux, explains: 'Blue has been the world’s favorite color for years – but it’s far from one note. It delivers a sense of fluidity, relief, stillness, and freedom, which is exactly what’s needed in today’s fast-paced world.'

Sometimes, the most innovative kitchen colors are a play on something we've already seen. In Kate's kitchen, a familiar palette reaches new heights with a fun twist. It's evidence to always lean into personal taste.
