Insiders have suspected it for a while but now it seems Sony's next generation console might miss its "spring" launch and with it, at least some of the $25bn spent worldwide on video games.
Some analysts are predicting the company could lose nearly a third of its 70% market share to Microsoft, while others are saying that less than stellar sales for rival Microsoft's competing Xbox 360, show that delays won't hit it that hard. Those that haven't played Doom or Lego Star Wars probably don't give a hoot, but the knock on effect on Sony could be dramatic if Xbox sales rise on the back of delay fears and especially if Toshiba gets its rival High Definition DVD format out before Blu Ray, Sony's new DVD format that was supposed to get a surefire boost via its inclusion in the new PS3.
