Kanye West has previewed his new album Donda to a sold-out crowd in a stadium in Atlanta but the majority of his fans are still waiting to hear the rapper’s new music – and the memes are hilarious.
In a rare and odd public appearance, West appeared in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium – which is in the city where he was born – and started playing his latest tunes at around 9:50pm. Apart from playing the new music, the 44-year-old star’s only contribution to the event was to walk out into the middle of the stadium and just vibe to the music and gesture to the crowd, which reportedly contained his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, the couple’s children and her sister Khloe Kardashian.
At one point, during the track I Know God Breathed On This, West dropped to his knees. After the final song played, he briefly stood in front of the cheering fans before walking off stage.

Kanye becomes first artist to sell out a stadium just to have people watch him vibe to his own music all by himself for an hour. #DONDA

West had teased that he would release the album in July 2020 but that never materialised. However, it would appear that West was working on the new music right up until the launch on Thursday. Producer and DJ Young Guru claimed on Twitter that a verse that Jay-Z delivers on the record’s final track – which makes reference to West’s support of Donald Trump – was recorded at 4pm that day.
HOV did the verse today!!!! At 4pm

Whilst fans are understandably delighted to have new music from one of the most famous rappers ever, the actual album hasn’t yet been released on any streaming platforms leading to a lot of frustration.
But, as ever, at least the memes are funny.
Am I high or did Kanye not drop his album ?

The album’s name is a reference to West’s mother, Donda West, who passed away in 2007. Several of the tracks on the album reportedly feature samples of her voice.
It has not been disclosed when the album will actually be released but it’s not like this is uncharacteristic behaviour from the enigmatic star. His previous album Jesus is King was originally set for a release in September 2018 but didn’t actually arrive until October 2019.
Fans will be hoping that they don’t have to wait that long again but by now we should all know that Kanye West plays by his own rules.
