The Full Monty sequel series: Full cast list, plot and how and when you can watch it

Classic ‘90s film The Full Monty is getting the Disney+ treatment as a sequel series soon releases on the streaming platform. The original film, which came out in 1997, told the story of six unemployed men who decide to form a striptease act.

Following its release, the original film was both a critical and commercial success. It was particularly praised for its attitude towards unemployment, depression, homosexuality and body image. It also shot classic hits by Hot Chocolate, Tom Jones and Donna Summer back into the charts.

The Full Monty cast list

Robert Carlyle returns as Gaz (Disney+)

The majority of the original ‘97 cast members return for the sequel series. The full returning cast is as follows:

  • Robert Carlyle as Gaz

  • Mark Addy as Dave

  • Lesley Sharp as Jean

  • Paul Barber as Horse

  • Steve Huison as Lomper

  • Wim Snape as Nathan

  • Tom Wilkinson as Gerald

Meanwhile, there are also some new additions to the cast. These are:

  • Talitha Wing as Destiny

  • Miles Jupp as Darren

  • Sophie Stanton as Hetty

What is the plot of The Full Monty?

An official synopsis for the new series reads: : “The Full Monty gang is back after 25 years, swapping their stage costumes for dognapping, racing pigeons, and one very unconventional hostage situation.

“Gaz might be older but he’s no wiser, and best mate Dave refuses to get sucked into any more of his antics. But when tragedy strikes, the whole Monty gang must pull together for a common purpose: to honour an old friend.”

When can you watch The Full Monty?
