Nine Wales squad players have been released back to the regions to play in this weekend’s round of Guinness PRO14 matches.
In addition to the 23 men named to face the Barbarians at the Principality Stadium, Ospreys scrum-half Aled Davies and Dragons wing Ashton Hewitt have been retained as travelling reserves.
But the other fit members of Wayne Pivac’s squad will be going back to their regional teams.
The Scarlets have already announced back three man Steff Evans and front rowers Samson Lee and Ryan Elias in their starting line-up to face Ulster in Belfast tomorrow night.
As for the Blues, they will now have full-back Hallam Amos and flanker Shane Lewis-Hughes available for Saturday afternoon’s encounter with Benetton out in Treviso.
The Dragons, for their part, will have exciting young back rower Taine Basham to call on for their home game against Zebre.
And the Ospreys will be boosted by the return of prop Nicky Smith, lock Bradley Davies and centre Scott Williams for Saturday evening’s clash with the Cheetahs at the Gnoll.
Ross Moriarty won’t be on duty for the Dragons, as he has been ill, having picked up an infection after cutting his head out in Japan.
That’s left the No 8 unable to train properly, so he sits out this weekend.
A number of young players, including the likes of Blues full-back Ioan Davies, Scarlets scrum-half Kieran Hardy and Ospreys duo Dewi Lake and Tiaan-Thomas Wheeler, have been in camp with Wales this week to gain experience.
All but two of the youngsters will be returning to the regions, with Hardy starting against Ulster at the Kingspan Stadium tomorrow evening.
