Nearly all schools in Swansea will be affected by the teachers' strike on Thursday, March 2. Members of the National Education Union (NEU) are striking for a second time in a row over pay and funding with two further dates set for March 15 and 16
Swansea Council has said that, as of Wednesday morning, 57 schools in the county will be shut, 16 will open and 22 have yet to confirm, but the full picture is unlikely to be clear until tomorrow.
Hundreds of schools are expected to shut across Wales on Thursday and staff do not have to inform heads if they intend to walk out. Headteachers who are members of the NAHT Cymru are also working to rule in the same protest over pay and as a result won't be organising cover for striking teachers.

Parents are being advised to check media and school websites, along with social media for details. Schools would also contact parents and carers, the council said.
Unions are locked in a pay row with the Welsh Government with members saying they are walking out to save schools from a recruitment and retainment "crisis" prompted by years of pay stagnation. Many schools are struggling to fill posts in core subjects.
Teachers branded an initial 5% offer from the Welsh Government as "insulting". When the minister came back with a renewed offer, adding another 3% plus a one-off payment, NEU members said "that was not good enough". You can read more details of that here
Members of the Nasuwt Cymru have also now rejected the new pay offer with that union warning it is committed to a further industrial action ballot of members in Wales unless there is an improved offer.
Teachers are taking their protest to the Senedd on Thursday for a rally which will be addressed by Dr Mary Bousted, joint general secretary, of the National Education Union.
