England has finally reached stage two of the roadmap out of lockdown and life has begun its gradual return to normal.
Outdoor hospitality was allowed to reopen on Monday April 12, along with hairdressers, gyms, and non-essential retail.
The city centre was filled with people once again after months of strict nationwide lockdown.
Shoppers were queueing up outside the Arndale at the crack of dawn, table reservations have all-but vanished across the region, and people waited up to three and a half hours to get into Manchester's beer gardens.
But despite such positive scenes for local business, there are still hundreds of hospitality operators who haven't been able to open the doors just yet.
Roughly four in five restaurants, pubs and bars in Manchester city centre will remain closed until indoor hospitality can resume from May 17, or step three of the roadmap.
Of the city centre’s 659 hospitality venues, just 132 opened on Monday, with another 40 or so expected to reopen in time for Saturday.
Some have beer gardens and roof terraces, while others are benefitting from the road closures in place across the city.
