The full list of MPs who are standing down at the next general election

Speculation is growing that the UK is heading for a snap general election this autumn amid continuing uncertainty over Brexit.

Earlier this week Boris Johnson threatened MPs with an October election if they succeeded in their attempts to block a no-deal Brexit.

Immediately after losing the vote, Mr Johnson announced he was putting down a motion for a snap election in an effort to find a solution the impasse.

Mr Johnson wants to hold the election on October 15, but failed on Wednesday to get the Commons two-thirds majority required to trigger a snap election

A day later, Jacob Rees-Mogg announced the government will mount a fresh attempt to call an early election on Monday, after failing in their initial bid
