Transfer deadline day for Premier League clubs has come and gone.
Tottenham Hotspur bolstered their squad with the arrivals of Giovani Lo Celso on a season-long loan deal from Real Betis as well as Ryan Sessegnon in a "£25m deal from London rivals Fulham.
However, the window remains open for at least another couple of weeks for clubs across Europe.
La Liga giants Real Madrid fall into that category as they can still bring in players until September 2.
One of the many names linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu is Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.
The France international hinted at wanting a fresh challenge twice in the summer, but has stayed put thus far. Although, his latest comments would suggest he's not given up on a move to Spain.
"Obviously there have been things said, but only time will tell. This question mark remains," Pogba said. "However, I am here in Manchester. I enjoy playing with my team-mates and I always want to win every game.
"I always give it everything.
"I am always good whenever I play football. It is what I love — it's my job. I give the maximum each time."
If Pogba gets his wish to join Real Madrid then that would be fantastic news for Spurs and Mauricio Pochettino.
This is because that would mean Christian Eriksen will be staying put at least until the January transfer window as the Dane is widely considered as Los Blancos' second choice midfield transfer target behind the Man United star.
And following a brilliant second half display against Aston Villa, Eriksen's importance to Spurs was underlined once again.
With that said, it would be a shock if Man United allow Pogba to leave especially as they would have to wait until the new year to bring in a replacement.
They've already rejected an offer of £27.6m plus James Rodriguez and the Daily Mail are reporting that the Red Devils would have considered offers of around £170m before deadline day for Premier League clubs last Thursday.
As things stand now, all eyes are on the September 2 deadline for Spanish clubs as until then the futures of Pogba and Eriksen won't fully be resolved.
