The free 30-day fitness programme that requires no equipment

There's something about the arrival of a new month that makes us keen to take on a new habit.

Whether it's going vegan for January or stopping smoking in October, thousands will be setting new goals come the first day of the month.

So now that May is here, and with lockdown continuing for the time being, we've got a new challenge for you.

A specialist gym has made its bodyweight-only workout programme free to download.

The workouts can all be done at home with no equipment at all, but will still challenge your strength as you progress through the 30-day programme.

The programme comes with video tuition (Calisthenics Club)

Exercises include squats, planks and push ups, but also some more gymnastics-based movements such as hollow body holds and dragon flags (Bruce Lee's signature move), and yoga exercises such as crow poses.

The bodyweight beginners programme has been designed by Mike Woodhall, the man behind Calisthenics Club.

Calisthenics typically blends gymnastics, movement and yoga to build strength without needing to use any gym equipment.

Celebrities who love it as a form of exercise include Zac Efron, Charlie Hunnam, and Jason Statham.

We're not suggesting that by the end of the month you'll be walking around on your hands - but it might help you get a step closer.

When you sign up for the free programme, you'll have access to an app where you can log your progress, see the workout and watch video instructions for each movement.

Each week comes with four workouts, plus one day dedicated to stretching.

Calisthenics Club has released two other 30-day programmes - the Path to Pull Ups and the Road to Push Ups programmes are also designed for beginners.

Seeing as there are 31 days in May, you can give this a go and spend the last day getting back to Netflix and beer, right?
