The four words former Arsenal youngster has used to describe Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard

When up-and-coming footballers are asked about their Premier League idols, there are a few names that immediately spring to mind.

Often players will say stars from the team they support or aspire to play for, while others name the players they looked up to as role models or the best in their position.

At Arsenal, there have been a few players who could arguably fall into that category, from Thierry Henry to Patrick Vieira.

But one former Arsenal youngster has been full of praise for Liverpool hero Steven Gerrard, paying him a huge compliment on social media.

Arsenal behind the scenes on the impact on transfers this summer and the next great creative midfielder

Charlie Gilmour, who was released by the Gunners last summer and went on to join Norwich City, has been waxing lyrical about the former Liverpool and England man, who played more than 700 times for the Reds in all competitions.

Gerrard, who is now manager at Rangers in the Scottish Premiership, also has 114 caps for England, and captained both club and country during the course of his career.

And Gilmour, who was born in Brighton but has represented both England and Scotland internationally at youth level, has described Gerrard as "the most complete midfielder" on Twitter.

Gilmour, who is now playing at Dutch side Telstar, on loan from Norwich City, was replying to a tweet from Goal, who recently profiled Gerrard as their player in focus as part of an online feature.

Gilmour played twice for Arsenal's first team after coming through the ranks at the club, having been spotted by the Gunners aged just six.

His two appearances for the club came in the Europa League, with his debut coming in a 3-0 win against Vorskla Poltava in November 2018, during Unai Emery's time in charge.
