The four solutions for Frank Lampard if N'Golo Kante misses Chelsea's clash vs Crystal Palace

Frank Lampard was handed a real injury blow on Saturday when N'Golo Kante hobbled off during the 3-0 win over Watford.

With the games coming thick and fast, it means the World Cup winner could be out of action for the Crystal Palace clash tomorrow night.

Kante has played a key role in Lampard's side since the restart, moving into the holding role and giving more solidity to the midfield in front of the back four.

While the severity of Kante's injury is not yet known, it's likely he will miss tomorrow night's game against the Eagles.

But what are the solutions for Lampard for the game against their London rivals?

Frank Lampard on Emerson and transfers

Jorginho replaces Kante

It has been something of a surprise to see Jorginho not play a minute of action so far since the Premier League's restart.

With Kante playing in the holding role, the Italy international has been left on the sidelines and not featured at all for the Blues.

Even when Kante came off the pitch on Saturday, it was Billy Gilmour who came on to the pitch over the vice-captain.

A straight swap could be Jorginho coming in, but the midfielder might be a little rusty in his performance.

Billy Gilmour replaces Kante

Before the break, Gilmour impressed massively when playing in the holding role against Liverpool and Everton.

The youngster started the FA Cup game against Leicester City in a more advanced midfield role, and it wasn't his best performance as he came off at half-time.

However, he looks much more comfortable in the deeper role, and he could be the one to come in and play with Mason Mount and Ross Barkley ahead of him.

Gilmour came on for Kante at the weekend, and Lampard has real trust in his up and coming star.

Mateo Kovacic replaces Kante

The Croatian had an Achilles injury which saw him miss the Watford match, but Lampard was hoping he would be back for the Palace game.

Last season, it was Kovacic who would move into the deeper role to give Jorginho a rest, with Maurizio Sarri not wanting to use Kante in the role.

However, Lampard hasn't really done that, but if Kovacic is fit then the Blues boss could use him in the position to allow Barkley and Mount move further forward.

Kovacic, though is still in a race to be ready for the game and might miss out on the Selhurst Park clash.

Change of formation

Since the return of football, Lampard has used a 4-3-3 formation as the staple, but that could change if Kante is not fit to play.

The most likely move would be a 4-2-3-1, with Gilmour coming in to the team next to either Mount or Barkley if Kovacic is not fit.

The issue would most likely be that it is too attacking for Lampard's side and could leave them exposed on the counter.
