The four players Unai Emery and Arsenal are in the market for in the January transfer window

Arsenal have enjoyed a decent start to the new season, achieving back-to-back wins in the Europa League and establishing themselves in third-place in the Premier League standings.

However, performances have at times left a lot to be desired and there is a long way to go for the Gunners to achieve their objectives this season, with the priority being securing a return to the Champions League.

The summer window saw Unai Emery splash the cash to bolster his side, drafting in Nicolas Pepe, Gabriel Martinelli, David Luiz and William Saliba, the latter remaining on loan with St. Etienne, as well as securing Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid for the season.

Further signings are being backed to be secured when the window reopens in the New Year though and Arsenal's chances of signing four players in particular have been revealed by the latest odds, via PaddyPower.

Wilfried Zaha - 12/1

Despite securing Nicolas Pepe for a club-record fee, Arsenal are still rated as firmly in the hunt for Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha - having pursued the former Manchester United man during the summer before switching their attentions to Pepe.

Zaha has struggled at the start of the new season, with just a single assist for Crystal Palace to his name, and it is widely expected that he will finally secure the move he is seeking in the New Year.

Nathan Ake - 16/1

Nathan Ake has become one of the finest defenders in the Premier League since joining Bournemouth from Chelsea and, following Harry Maguire's move from Leicester City to Manchester United, is now arguably the best defender outside of the established top six.

Arsenal still have defensive frailties and signing Ake would certainly issue a statement of intent, although it would lead to speculation over how he, Rob Holding, Calum Chambers and Saliba fit into the squad in the long-term.

James Maddison - 16/1

Mesut Ozil's continued exile has left Arsenal lacking creativity in midfield and there is no guarantee that they will be able to turn Dani Ceballos spell at the Emirates Stadium into a permanent deal, which could put the Gunners in the market for someone to pull the strings.

Leicester ace James Maddison is certainly one of the finest candidates that could be secured, although the Foxes would command an astronomical fee for his services and the likes of Manchester United would be expected to fight for his signature.

Donny van de Beek - 33/1

Part of the Ajax side that excelled last season by reaching the Champions League semi-finals, Donny van de Beek stayed put with the Eredivisie champions while the likes of Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt moved on.

The 22-year-old has continued to impress this term, contributing two goals and four assists in seven league appearances, but Real Madrid are the firm favourites to secure his signature.
